SUNRISE / SUNSET

Sunrise / Sunset / Fiddler on the Roof

A MUST SEE MOVIE / A MUSICAL

 BUT WITH MUCH SENTIMENT /
PLEASE READ THE WORDS

I think of my own children all grown up when i read these lines.

Is this the little girl I carried, is this the little boy at play?
I don't remember growing older
When did they?

When did she get to be a beauty?
When did he grow to be so tall?
Wasn't it yesterday
When they were small?

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly flow the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears

What words of wisdom can I give them?
How can I help to ease their way?
Now they must learn from one another
Day by day

They look so natural together
Just like two newlyweds should be

Sunrise, sunset
Sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears

One season following another
Laden with happiness and tears

Nature of God

Joseph Smith came to reveal God, in a day of almost total spiritual darkness, in a day when men no longer knew the nature and kind of Being whom they should worship
“This Generation Shall Have My Word through You”

“God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret. If the veil were rent today, and the great God who holds this world in its orbit, and who upholds all worlds and all things by his power, was to make himself visible,—I say, if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in form—like yourselves in all the person, image, and very form as a man; for Adam was created in the very fashion, image and likeness of God, and received instruction from, and walked, talked and conversed with him, as one man talks and communes with another”
How many people actually know this?

Quote from" The Book of Mormon"

"And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, ... and they teach all men that they should do good." 2 Nephi 33:10

Rainbow Beach / Paradise Roller Rink / Gregg Park / Sugar Loaf Mountain / my home town

Photo: Rainbow Beach, Courtesy of the Shannon Lane Jaramillo Collection. Great photo Shannon. Thank you for sharing it with the group. Greg park
This is some of a main places where Bump and I would go to and hang out in the summer.

Rainbow Beach is first picture / a fun spot where many would flock to on a hot summer day.  Bump and I were no different. We looked forward to it.  Half of  the pool was walkable and from middle on out you were in deep water.  I remember the lifeguards set at the top of tower to keep an eye out for anyone having trouble.    Many a day we spent there!  We lived at 1618 Wabash Ave. and it was maybe a 1/2 mile walk to get there.  We loved this place!

Paradise Roller Rink/  Thats where you would find us on Sat. nights. the picture is old but yes that was the place to be! I always thought i was the best skater there. ha.  Could be because the really best skater there always ask me to skate with him when it was time to pick a partner ,so guess thats why i thought hey, i must be pretty good! ha.

Sugar Loaf Mount. This is where took pictures of my own children jumping off the mount and if find it will post it here also.

Gregg park was the nicest and biggest park around, where families would come together for family picnics. I remember we would do a picnic on rare occasion.

check this video if want to see our fashion in bathing suits during my era

Be Still My Soul

Lyrics to a song we sing at church. One of my favorites.  Its so Beautiful! it always touches my heart and almost makes me cry when we sing it. if you were to hear the melody you would understand how very lovely this song is.
  1. Be still, my soul: The Lord is on thy side;
With patience bear thy cross of grief or pain.
    Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In ev'ry change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: Thy best, thy heav'nly Friend
Thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
  2.  Be still, my soul: Thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as he has the past.
    Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.

Be still my soul: The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.
Be still, my soul: The hour is hast'ning on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: When change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Body in Motion

Now this is something easier said than done!   Sure you have seen the commercial on tv lately that says a body in motion tends to stay in motion while a body at rest tends to stay at rest! well  keeping this body moving is not easy and I am sure its a lifetime pursuit for most of us.

Today Jack Lalanne died at 96. He was the fitness guy back in the  forties and fifties and he was all about fitness and eating right and taking care of your body .  I do know its important to be healthy and if i don't get some weight off myself  its not going to be good yrs. ahead for me.
Would have --Should have --and Could have / just doesn't cut it!!

Jack said " the only way that you can hurt your body is to not use it!"  I know thats true and for sure people are doing more to keep healthy and are living longer than ever before.  for this new generation exercise has  become a way of life! I wish i had started yrs. ago. Its getting late in the game for me.   You need to start young and make it a way of life,  a habit like my neighbor Frank does who is 88 and walks a mighty fast walk around the block nearly everyday.  He used to run but can't do that anymore.

So there is this advertisement on tv that says:
" A body at rest seems to stay at rest,
A body in motion tends to stay in motion."

OK!  lets all get off our buns!! ha.

Memories of Oma Sullivan & Frank Todd Family

Dad's side:

My dad married my mom when he was twenty and she only fourteen.
In our backyard they cut up apples and let them dry in the sun, no dehydrating machine.
Relative owned bees and my dad had some of them in back yard that he worked with.
Dad worked with beehives for along time and will find out more about this adventure later
Dad later went to work on funaces.
Dad was Dutch - Engish and Welsh.
First time the Todd's came here was in ? ...............     they were farmers, Dad's father was a photographer not sure but want to check out to see if we were related to Mary Todd wife of Abe Lincoln.

Mom's side:

Mom was 7 months preg. with Joe when she was baptized in the church .Never was active.
Mom was Indian - Irish , she held several jobs but mostly in resturants to help make ends meet.
She was just a kid when she married and never really settled in to becoming a homemaker.

Will post more info here as i find it. want to know more about both sides of our family.

Good Statements

Once upon a memory someone wiped a tear, held me close and loved me, thank you mother dear!

Swallowing your pride will never give you indigestion.

So you can't take your money with you. Never seen a Hearth with a brink truck behind it. ha.

The best way to live is to appreciate each minute as an unrepeatable MIRACLE ,
work at your work
play at your play
Don't try to borrow from your future
...accept that now is the best time of your life!

The first to apologize is the bravest
The first to forgive is the strongest
The first to forget is the Happiest!   I believe this to be true!

Blue bird of happiness!!

Happiness is when , what you think and what you say and what you do all work together in harmony!  Time changes things but in reality you actually have to make the change yourself! believing in you! Time changes things but in reality you actually have to make the change yourself!

Find Joy in the Journey!

Wow! this is a great statement!
This is what I want for all my children to have........
                                                                     joy in the journey!

This is a once in a lifetime happening. So i ask you , are you finding joy in the journey?   I truly hope so!    Day by day, minute to minute , second by second , we  have all gone through change after change to where we are today. And we will all continue going thru alterations in our lifetime and in the end it really doesn't matter where you started from , how much worldly  goods you accumulated or titles you gained, or even what you know.  But what does matter when all is said and done, is what you have become? after all this lifetime of living! What have you become?

I hope you all have progressed to be more loving, more understanding, kinder, more generous, having integrity and having come to a place where you like who you have become.   as your mother I wish you all
"  JOY IN THE JOURNEY! "

I'm too young to be Seventy/ by Judith Viorst

Well I am no longer seventy but have now turned seventy two this month. ugh!
As much as i hate to admit it ,  i am starting to feel it a little!
Read this book Angie got me for my Birthday and could relate to some of the situations that occur at this age

No lines on my face
No gray in my hair
No stains on my clothes
No dust on the table
Oh how perfect the world becomes
When i take off my glasses!      what would we see without our glasses? ha.

She talks about at ninety, she won't care about her weight which is always a issue. ha.
Thermostatically  incompatible/  for sure relate to this/ cause dad and i have issues with this

In the middle of the night!  / well lately sleeping is something i have been having trouble with.
A one liner  / "He sleeps the sleep of the dead. Could he be dead?  I turn on the light and check his pulse. No, he is just sleeping."  haha.

 I wake up on Monday
Eat lunch on Wed.
Go to sleep on Friday and before i know it the wk. is gone.  just wishing away the hours the days the years and as if there will Always Always Always be more!!!  ugh!

When Christ comes!

When Christ comes, they will ask,
What are these wounds in thine hands and in thy feet?

Jesus will speak /     Then shall they know that I am the Lord, for I will say unto them , These wounds are the wounds with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.  I am he who was lifted up. I am Jesus that was crucified .

I am the Son of God!

O, ye nations of the earth, how often would i have gathered you together as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, but ye would not!

Great quotes

this post will consist of quotes i love:

1.  It takes no longer to be good example than to be a poor one.
2. It takes no longer to do right rather than wrong.
 3. Remember the Lord will compensate you for suffering if you hold out and are faithful.
He did it for JOB, he will do it for you.
4.Be grateful for the present day, because it may never come again
5. Think of one wonderful thing that happened today
6. Do not spend time worrying about events that are out of our control
7. Count your blessings , literally
