Seven Dwarfs

When see this picture I often think of my seven kids.  It kind of reminds me how they are so different and yet I remember how much they enjoyed each other when they were young and worked,  played, and stuck together.  Everyone of them were different then and it was ok!
Here is:   I wonder how they would line up in this family? haha.

Todd's Villa

"The liberties of our country, the freedoms of our civil Constitution are worth defending at all hazards; it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors. They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood. It will bring a mark of everlasting infamy on the present generation – enlightened as it is – if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of designing men."          -Samuel Adams

"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned, this is the sum of good government."
                          -Thomas Jefferson
TODD'S VILLA / Bump came up to Stacey's reception and we had a really nice time.  We talked of the good old days  and afterwards he hung out at my house before heading back home.  We talked about lots of things and Bump ask if we had our food storage saved up and sad to say I told him we used to have alot, gave wheat to Val when moved here cause this house is small and had no place to store it. We do have some extra food but not alot right now. He said if things get super bad in this country we are going to need it!!  He knows our church suggests we all have a year supply of food on hand for anything that might come up , like lost of job, hurricane or flood damage, strikes from food lines and other catastrophe event that could occur.  Bump said that his son who lives in the Pan Handle was going to have a" Todd's Villa "and take care of all the people on his circle. We laughed and joked but he said all will help each other and one person will be in charge and all work together.  Seriously it was funny to hear him talk about it but he was truly concerned i think.  It could happen one day i reckon and guess his son Paul really wants to have a plan that he can put into action if  it were to happen.    He talked about rationing food and all that kind of thing.  I said Bump , " you can come by here and we will all make the track together to Todd's Villa and be just like the pioneers! " haha Won't be able to afford gas so we may have to go by foot. ha. that for sure will make it  tough getting there.  We always have fun conversations when Bump comes to visit.  We always have fun chatting together. Would you believe we are even talking of having a slumber party at my house one night.  Can you imagine!! haha

Upholstering a chair , Maybe??

Picked up this Wing Back Chair , solid wood and for only $10 dollars.  I have always wanted one in a country pattern so thought here is my chance.  They are pretty expensive at the stores.  Gave about 40 dollars for the material on sale and thought what do I have to lose, could never afford to buy one.   So here is what it looks like now and will show finish produce down the road, will take some time.   check back!

Well had to stop again, ran out of material ,  goofed  on part of the repair already , this is not easy,  not sure want to share the finish look.ha. . ugh.  Maggie loves this chair, she curls up in it already to take her naps so guess all is not wasted.ha. If  it doesn't turn out just right i will keep it anyway and let Maggie continue to use it for her naps. ha.  Now i  know why uphostery people charge so much. ugh.

Keeping Busy

Well , dad and I are trying to keep busy in our older years.  He has made our sunroom into  an office and starting to put windows in, also helps out the folks around the neighborhood doing odd jobs for the widows and putters in the garage. He also keeps busy with his church calling.
My interest is in trying to make a quilt, reupholster a chair ,  finding time to read , and walking some everyday to lose this weight. I also have a church calling.
Funny thing about retirement and old age, you find you have all this time on your hands, a long list of " To Do" things but then making the list and doing them are two different things.   We tend to just want to do what we want to do most days! And some days you find you may not want to do anything at all! haha!
I do enjoy  getting out of the house every now and then and visit with people or just walk around the various stores. Sometimes I like  to seek out new places that I haven't been and check them out.

We have a small house here on douglas st. and really it doesn't take too much work keeping it up so I am always getting done fast and out the door.  But whatever , dad and I our both filling our days, hours, and minutes with the  things we enjoy doing the most! thats RETIREMENT! But I do often wish all the kids lived near by and could drop in and say hi .

The Greatest Job

I may never be as cleaver as my neighbor down the street.
I may never be as weathy as some other men I meet.
I may never have the glory that some other men have had,
But I‘ve got to be successful as a little fellows dad.
There are certain dreams I cherish
That I‘d like to see come true.
There are things I would accomplish
Ere my working days  are through.
But the task my heart is set on, is to guide a little lad,
and to make myself successful as that little fellows dad.
It is the one job that I dream of
It’s the task I think of most.
If I fail that growing youngster I have nothing else to boast.
For though wealth I would gather , all my future would be sad.
If I fail to be successful as this little fellows dad.
I may never get earths glory
I may never gather gold
Men my count me as a failure
When my business life is told.
But if he who follows after me,
 a Christian I‘ll be glad .
For then I know I’ve been successful
as that little fellow’s dad.

Prophets of Old

I been reading about what a prophet of old said and that is that death is real, its in the plan. Maybe not today but it will come to each of us one day.  No way out!  There are two deaths.  Regular death taking you from this earth / Spiritual death taking you from believing!  Regular death, no escape! gonna happen!  Spiritual death , can escape this one!
First one will happen to us all.  Second one we have a choice.  That second one is the one we have to think about if we believe in a after life.     Comes down to this, follow Christ or follow our own path?   Have faith in God and his great plan or just believe its all for nothing. Its a choice!
The prophets of old said, "this life is a probationary state."
We have a choice. He knew we would love choices!  I know I love having choices!  I love this plan!   I'm not perfect, not sure I will ever be totally perfect but i try to be my best!  His plan is that he wants us to be happy and he knew with right choices and having our family we would be happy so He put His plan in order.  We been here together as a family and he knows we would want to continue that way. Its a great plan and if we do goof up which we all do , then he picks up the slack , don't have to carry that burden. Its been taken care, just turn it over to Him. great!

A prophet said " there is a space granted unto man in which he might repent, [that space is here and now on this earth]therefore this life becomes our probationary state " this is where it all  happens guys" right here and now. Here is the words of the prophets of old:

[ this being the plan of Redemption which was laid for man ] saying
If ye will repent and harden not your hearts, then will I have mercy upon you through my Only Begotten Son, who set the example.
" I go and prepare a place for you that where I am you may be also."   Its worked out to be fair for all!   love you all, mama

Our Maggie

A few pictures of our sweet Maggie. Todd says she is # eight in line of our children. ha.  We do love her so!

Vintage sayings:

May joy be with you while you stay and peace be with you on your way.
Use it up / wear it out, make it do or do without!
The world is so full of a number of things... i am sure we should all be as happy as kings.
Home sweet home.
Let me live in the house by the side of the road and be a friend to man.
A woman's home is her castle
A stew to make ,a cake to bake
From a friend of thine to a friend of mine
Gone but not forgotten
A friend loveth at all times
Long may it wave
Its a Wonderful Life
Rise and shine
May all who come unto my door sweet wellness find and peace of mind
Do right /fear not
To a friends house the road is never long

Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people .  He said ,My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger , envy, jealousy, sorrow , regret , greed, arrogance, self -pity, guilt , resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good.  It is joy , peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: " Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

One of my favorite songs to hear at Christmas time

Holy child close to my heart, I guard you from all danger; Prince of Peace and Light of Life , here cradled in a manger.  Holy Child Immanuel, A miracle of wonder, did you hear the angels sing in glory strong as thunder?   Did the shepherds really see the star not like to any other? Did it lead them here to find this Holy Child and Mother?  Holy child here in my arms, the long awaited Savior , King of Kings and Lord of Lords  A gift of loving favor,    Holy child a joy sublime, more blessed than any other, will the people understand that you’re their elder brother?  Will they know you are the son of God, Begotten of the Father?  Can they know the hope I feel as your adoring Mother.

Leslie can sing this beautifully/sometimes when rocking Jayden i hum this
