Roscoe Todd

 April 5, 1929 -January 10, 2025....

I have some great memories of my brother and spending time at his home in Vincennes, Indiana.

My brother Paul whom we called (Bump) a nickname started back in childhood days. Roscoe lived in a valley down a h ill which we called the hollow ,  we loved hanging out there cause we would swing on grapevines , play hide and seek in his cornfield , and evenings we would wrestle in his living room with Roscoe being the referee.  His wife Lillie was someone Bump and I could count on to take us to a drive- in theater plus feed us and she even taught me to drive, had a old Studebaker and I remember driving off once into a ditch. As I remember Lillie never got upset much with us kids. I think Roscoe really loved her but later she had an affair and that broke Roscoe's heart and I remember the day he found out and he cried like a baby, it was a sad day.  They divorced and later he married Carol and they were together till her death. Roscoe was a hard worker, was right up to his old age. Never known a man who worked any harder than Ross and he generally cared about people. Of course he was hurt by many who took advantage of his goodness.  Roscoe was not educated. He dropped out of school at a very young age learning some from just living life!  Even so he started his own business and became a huge success all around Vincennes and counties around there.   I could tell more stories of Ross, like the time he hired a young guy to help with work and found that he stole her money. He was devastated  , he even did work for some who could not afford  to pay but I think this is why his work was so successful,  he also donated a special bark of wood to the city and if you go there you can see it, they had a bust monument made of an historical Indian that came to Vincennes.
