I have revised this message to shorten it.. found it in
Reader's Digest and thought interesting
"Every life story ends in death" a quote by Ernest Hemingway. Those at hospice know this and are modern Saints! They spend their days assisting people as they approach their last days here on earth. Medical science tells us what will rob us of our existence with no remedy. Meds. can ease the pain or delay the end but no human treatment can postpone it indefinitely. Many will die suddenly without warning....their story unfinished....all will share Hemingway 's predicted ending: Death. Actually we all from our very first breath form attachments with individuals whom we will watch or who will watch us ....weaken and die. We cling to existence in spite of suffering, grief, and discouragement. That same consciousness that allows us to enjoy this existence will confront us one day of both existence and consciousness. Some of us reach maturity and then others the passing yrs. loosen our grip and rob us of vitality and ability....we are aware of our losses. And yes, the longer we live the more we witness the physical and mental decline of of not only ourselves but of others close to us.
Life is sweet!! but the longer we live the more suffering we experience both personally and vicariously. Many have written and addressed this sad dilemma. " The length of our days is seventy years/ or eighty if we have the strength/ yet our span is but trouble and sorrow. (Psalm 90:10)
" Man born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. He springs up like a flower and withers away ... like a fleeting shadow he does not endure. "(Job 14:1&2)
We are given a taste of delight and then its taken from us but we are given hope and God responded " I am the resurrected and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies."
Wow, there it is!
No matter how difficult our days, how great our suffering, how short our span of our lives, we can face death with HOPE! Our personal story may conclude with death, but we have the promise of life after death because of the Resurrection of Christ!
Christ offers hope, so we can live out our days in dignity till the end! Many don't even have or know this kind of comfort. The final pages of our lives may glow with hope and yes our tale will end and it may also tarry or it may tread gently but it will come to all. Why does it have to be you may ask? I have asked same thing. This man Jesus accepted the death for all because he had a great love of people. Could we do that? Think my sister Donna has near that kind of love, me I haven't got there yet! If we had to live with our sins and no sadness for it then it would get worse and we would live thinking that was happiness... not! So it would not be a good thing. Jesus plan was perfect....loved people and wanted to take sin away so we could let it go forever and not feel bad or remember it any more. Its a wonderful thing!! With all this settled before or after death....it will be that the last enemy to be destroyed.... death.... with sin done away with then God will wipe every tear from our eyes and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain ....for all these things will have passed away....sounds great to me!
No more Earth as a hospice.
No more waiting for death.
No more grieving for lost loved ones.
No more goodbyes!!!
