Can a Marriage last for an eternity? Our Father in Heaven thinks so.
Most people today think of a marriage made in heaven as a rare occurrence
in which both parties are deeply in love and highly compatible. We would all like
to think that all marriages are made in heaven. When a man and woman
enters marraige , they think its forever until a disagreement comes up and they can't or won't give in and come together on how to solve it. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints couples are married in Holy Temples and are expected to work through disagreement and those everyday situations that can tear a marriage apart. they covenant (or
promise) they will stay together forever—on earth and in heaven after
they die, if they are faithful to each other and their promises to the
Lord. A temple marriage doesn’t include phrases like, "Till death do you
part" or "So long as you both shall live." If we keep our promises,
our children also become part of this heavenly promise—sealed to us
forever.
In todays world keeping families together is not always an easy accompliment. Couples go into a marriage expectations high , then trials set in and they give up and move on. Sad. When married in the temple they think about the journey , are told about the journey and give it a good try. Does it always work {no} but for the most part those in temple marriages try harder , the committment is stronger. Yes any marriage can survive the storms of life, but when we covenent to give it that extra effort , it helps in that we rethink and forcus on the good.
The Family is Central to God's Plan
It's no stretch to say that a person has a serious advantage in life
if they come from a loving, supportive home. Many people still succeed
though they come from less-than-ideal family situations, but having our
basic needs met, knowing that our parents love us and learning life
lessons at home make all the challenges of day-to-day living that much
easier to face. Likely, as an adult you want a happy home for your
family.
This is no coincidence. God organizes us into families so that we can
grow up in happiness and safety, and so that we can learn to love
others selflessly—the key to true joy. Within the family is the best
place to learn to love others the way Heavenly Father loves each one of
us.
God's Church exists to help families gain eternal blessings. We
believe the greatest blessing He gives us is the ability to return to
live with Him in heaven with our families. We follow our Heavenly
Father's will because that is how we earn this blessing.
