Jeanne Bice creator of the Quacker Factory

Ok I never heard of this lady before until I picked up her book at a thrift store I believe and this book just took me back to the early 60's  when life was so different then. Back when I was young and  was a newly bride. I just had to blog some of what she said and wrote.  This lady is not a beauty queen by far but a out spoken lady much like Jean Clark who Bump and I spent much time at her home. Back when we were kids   Bump and I spent much of our childhood listening to Jean Clarks jokes and her making us laugh when we didn't actually have much to laugh about back then.  This lady said " I loved playing house as a  young girl, I think I learned how to be a housewife from those early days "  I sure can relate to that myself.

Her horoscope is Cancer as is mine...she says we are the ultimate nesters,we look at a room and think of all the possibilities we can do with it...She talks of the fun she had at her Aunt and Uncles home while Bump and I remember the fun we had out at my brother Roscoe's place, vines to swing on and games to play , hide and seek in the corn field , just great times!  I really love all the fun that Bump and I had .....its my best memories. We raised ourselves she says in the book and so did Bump and I , ...today we have a closeness.

Her father told her ( keep your nose to the grindstone ,work very hard, struggle and  you'll be a success.)

...Our dad , well not sure any of us kids looked up to him.   Dad was not one to help you feel good..... only said if having a hard time,  use your noggin and would tap me on the head....I hated that!   This lady talks about the importance of having friends, I believe in those days it was great to have girlfriends .....she joined a women's club, learned to play bridge and they talked about everything and laughed out loud and would interrupt each other laughing while having a good time.....me and my friend Betty pretty much did same thing and wow did we ever have so much fun together!

Love this quote from this book.~~~~~~

"We got married in 1959..a perfect time to be alive. You knew your life would be better than your parents and you just knew you would succeed. I think we were the last generation that was allowed to be fat or thin, to be pretty or ugly, geeky or a cheerleader.  We were still a generation who got married first and then lived together..We were the last generation so dumb to think you needed a husband to have a baby. Life was perfect and I was perfect at it."  Butch was the perfect man for me...Marriage was absolutely the perfect place for Jeanne Bice.  In 1981 it was just another perfect day in our lives....after lunch Butch headed to the store and would return home before heading to work. As he turned and gave me a kiss and said he loved me he then turned to leave ....right there and then he dropped dead at my feet, ....no warning. After some time had passed , I now feel that life prepares you for times like this. ...Sometimes life is so hard it becomes difficult to believe that it can ever get better.  But it can!"

For sure this took me back as I read the book.  Much like this lady we were little housewives who  stayed home with the children ....life was good then and I remember Betty my friend and I getting together after the guys left for work and having fun going to parks with kids , cooking together and watching "As the World Turns"  it was all such  fun!  Yes, its true while we are living each day and making plans for tomorrow our lives can change in a instant without a warning as this happened to this lady Jeanne!! Few years later my friend Betty's husband died... He was not very old, Betty went on to marry again.  Life can change ....we really never know what tomorrow will bring.

Loved loved this book / this was life in the Sixies.

Dew on the Hunt

I  hear this loud chirping and go into my bedroom and Dew has this bird in his mouth and i say NO DEW and he dropped it and had it cornered in the closet .  I threw a cover around the bird and picked it up.  Didn't know what to do with it.  Mama bird wasn't around making noise or looking for her lost baby.

Didn't want cats to kill it so kept it over night in box with holes so it could breath then next morning I took it to  Trout Lake and ask lady if she would take it and she said put it back in a bush at your place but I said can't cause the cat would kill it, being it can't fly.  Well she finally said ok and took pity on me and said ok I will take it . Sooo relieved and told  her it was likely hungry cause had it all evening.  Be happy little guy and sorry if you miss your mama.😟Dew

Epic Year

We have in our hands the story of the beginning of humankind—our story as covenant Christians. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we know how this epic journey will end. Satan will be destroyed, and the righteous will be victorious. But how will our individual story unfold?

Will we choose to walk with Jesus Christ this year? Will we plead with Him to stay with us, eagerly listening to what He teaches ?

He is our loving, personal Savior whose voice we hear in the Doctrine and Covenants, whose life is recorded in the New Testament, and whose teachings are plainly taught in the Book of Mormon. With a little practice, we will be able to find His ministry woven throughout the pages of the Old Testament as well. He is central to humanity’s past, present, and future. He has been—and always will be—beside us every step of the way.

Jen leaves for San Diego

😘 A sad day this was for me...Jen left Eustis to go back to San Diego.  She was offered a job after interviewing for it and got it!  When car people came to take her car cause she chose to fly I kind of lost it!  She had been thinking of leaving cause not many people here she knew and guess in away I wanted her to go to be with friends and be happy and those younger than her dad and I.  I kind of felt there was nothing here for her. Mostly old people not much of anyone her own age.  I didn't want her to see two old people getting  older everyday.  I literally cryed for two days after she left cause missed her sooo much!! 😭

We did alot together, worked puzzles , shopped together,  cleaned up around here, listened to music as dad would play some great songs for us and with her laughing at me trying to sing my heart out but not hitting all the right notes! ha!🎜🎝🎝🎝

Miss you my sweet Jenny!!!💓💓💓💓💓💓💓

Vincennes Trip 2021....

The Amazing Rags to Riches story of my 2 brothers and a nephew:

Joe, Roscoe and Steve!

These guys have a God given talent to turn their lives into something special!  They all knew how to work very hard and how to make money!

Joe took to liking motorcycles and cars at a very young age.  He bought them and later resold them making a nice profit, always getting more than what he paid for them. He was always good about saving his money.  He liked people and they liked him. He really has a gift of  gab. Talking and wheeling and dealing was his gift to his fame and riches. Everyone in Vincennes Indiana knows these guys! Back in Joe's youth one day his so called friends went to the movies and as they left the theater one of the boys said "lets steal these bikes so we don't have to walk home." planning to drop them off somewhere near by their homes. Joe said he couldn't do it!  He said he cared too much what people thought of him , didn't want to steal and he went home alone by himself walking.

My other brotherRoscoe  unfortunately dropped out of school at around 5th grade and never learned to read or write.  How this happened no one seems to even know?

He started helping someone in the tree trimming  business and went on to one day owning his own business, becoming the #1 tree trimming company in the historical town of Vincennes, IN. Everyone in town knows him also.  Vincennes even has a moument of a famous Native American Indian that Rosco himself cut the log and supplied to the City.  You would never know he was close to being a millionare.

Steve, Roscoe's son, took over his dads tree business as Roscoe is now in his early nineties.  Steve helped contribute to his weath with his many talents.  He hand built a cabin from the ground up and can take any old junk car and refurbish it making it look brand new, and then sell it for thousands.  He said he hung out in grandpa Todd's junkyard and was a very hard worker at a early age.   A God given talent that has made him rich and he still loves his dad for teaching him at a early age how to work hard. He still picks up his dad in the morning and they carpool to work together.  Roscoe even wears his hard hat and picks up limbs off the ground. That business was Roscoe's life and he doesn't want to stop working, even today. Steve owes everything to his dad who made it all  possible that he wants for nothing today. My brother Roscoe could not read or write yet he made it to the top of his profession!   His son had no blueprint to build a cabin and lake on his property that he shares with his dad but he made it happen. Steve said his teacher once told him "you will never amount to anything."   He went on to prove her wrong!

will put a picture of the three here soon.

Christopher and Cancer

Just recently we got news of our son in law Christopher who was diagnosed with colon cancer.  All are greatly concerned being he is a young  51 yr. old and has a love for life and always has been very active and healthy playing  tennis and surfing. I feel all this is to his advantage and feel very strongly that he will beat this. Reading about cancer its awful and know it robs you of joy in this life!

Gilda Radner wrote a book about her journey with cancer. Title of her book is what she would repeat alot on the Saturday Night Live Show"   "It's Always Something."  She was a comedian and very funny!

Like most all of us , we want to live this life to the fullest!

.The most unfunny thing in the world....CANCER!

We do have Faith that my son in law will be fine and this cancer will be kicked to the curb as my daughter says!!!  Love you Christopher!!💓
