Vincennes Trip 2021....

The Amazing Rags to Riches story of my 2 brothers and a nephew:

Joe, Roscoe and Steve!

These guys have a God given talent to turn their lives into something special!  They all knew how to work very hard and how to make money!

Joe took to liking motorcycles and cars at a very young age.  He bought them and later resold them making a nice profit, always getting more than what he paid for them. He was always good about saving his money.  He liked people and they liked him. He really has a gift of  gab. Talking and wheeling and dealing was his gift to his fame and riches. Everyone in Vincennes Indiana knows these guys! Back in Joe's youth one day his so called friends went to the movies and as they left the theater one of the boys said "lets steal these bikes so we don't have to walk home." planning to drop them off somewhere near by their homes. Joe said he couldn't do it!  He said he cared too much what people thought of him , didn't want to steal and he went home alone by himself walking.

My other brotherRoscoe  unfortunately dropped out of school at around 5th grade and never learned to read or write.  How this happened no one seems to even know?

He started helping someone in the tree trimming  business and went on to one day owning his own business, becoming the #1 tree trimming company in the historical town of Vincennes, IN. Everyone in town knows him also.  Vincennes even has a moument of a famous Native American Indian that Rosco himself cut the log and supplied to the City.  You would never know he was close to being a millionare.

Steve, Roscoe's son, took over his dads tree business as Roscoe is now in his early nineties.  Steve helped contribute to his weath with his many talents.  He hand built a cabin from the ground up and can take any old junk car and refurbish it making it look brand new, and then sell it for thousands.  He said he hung out in grandpa Todd's junkyard and was a very hard worker at a early age.   A God given talent that has made him rich and he still loves his dad for teaching him at a early age how to work hard. He still picks up his dad in the morning and they carpool to work together.  Roscoe even wears his hard hat and picks up limbs off the ground. That business was Roscoe's life and he doesn't want to stop working, even today. Steve owes everything to his dad who made it all  possible that he wants for nothing today. My brother Roscoe could not read or write yet he made it to the top of his profession!   His son had no blueprint to build a cabin and lake on his property that he shares with his dad but he made it happen. Steve said his teacher once told him "you will never amount to anything."   He went on to prove her wrong!

will put a picture of the three here soon.

Christopher and Cancer

Just recently we got news of our son in law Christopher who was diagnosed with colon cancer.  All are greatly concerned being he is a young  51 yr. old and has a love for life and always has been very active and healthy playing  tennis and surfing. I feel all this is to his advantage and feel very strongly that he will beat this. Reading about cancer its awful and know it robs you of joy in this life!

Gilda Radner wrote a book about her journey with cancer. Title of her book is what she would repeat alot on the Saturday Night Live Show"   "It's Always Something."  She was a comedian and very funny!

Like most all of us , we want to live this life to the fullest!

.The most unfunny thing in the world....CANCER!

We do have Faith that my son in law will be fine and this cancer will be kicked to the curb as my daughter says!!!  Love you Christopher!!💓

Humble and Kind by Tim McGraw

This is a lovely song by Tim McGraw... I love it and its worth listening to.💓

  • You know there's a lot that glows by the front door
Don't forget the keys under the mat
Childhood stars shine, always stay humble and kind
Go to church 'cause your momma says to
Visit grandpa every chance that you can
It won't be a waste of time
    Always stay humble and kind

Hold the door say please say thank you
    Don't steal, don't cheat, and don't lie
I know you got moutains to climb but
    Always stay humble and kind
When the dreams you're dreamin' come to you
When the work you put in is realized
Let yourself feel the pride but
    Always stay humble and kind

Don't expect a free ride from no one
Don't hold a grudge or a chip and here's why
    Bitterness keeps you from flying
    Always stay humble and kind
Know the difference between sleeping with someone
And sleeping with someone you love
I love you ain't no pick up line so
    Always stay humble and kind

Hold the door say please say thank you
    Don't steal, don't cheat, and don't lie
I know you got moutains to climb but
    Always stay humble and kind
When those dreams you're dreamin' come to you
When the work you put in is realized
Let yourself feel the pride but
    Always stay humble and kind
When it's hot, eat a root beer, a popsicle
Shut off the AC and roll the windows down
    Let that summer sun shine
    Always stay humble and kind
Don't take for granted the love this life gives you
When you get where you're goin'
    Don't forget turn back around
Help the next one in line
    Always stay humble and kind

New Cat Little Dew

Well a new cat has joined our family. Jen had been thinking of a lap cat and when went to look at this one she felt sorry for these folks in their nineties. We call him Mountain Dew cause of his energy and M.D.also gives me energy!! And well this little guy has tons of ENERGY!!!! They gave Jen everything a cat needs to bring home with him.  all kinds of stuff that goes with him.   Certainly they were ready to get rid of him no doubt.😊 We have found we just have to let him go. He will not stay inside except to sleep. Will have to be a outside cat for sure. Comes in for a two hour nap during day or sleeps under dads bench in garage. Spends most of time outdoors. He is a ball of energy! I think Jen felt sorry for the couple in their nineties so she brought him home. YIKES!!  The couples grandchildren thought they needed a pet. So now we have Dew. He loves an adventure!!  Like getting up into this giant tree!

Oh Dew you are something else!!  A very hyper kitty but perhaps one day as he gets older he might slow down.😃

Life can be tough/ by Aly & Josh

Just finished a book about a couple who married and thought all would be perfect after. A home , great jobs, children just everything would be perfect!! then the bomb dropped! She got cancer two breasts removed and lots of pain from various places on her body and then to trying to get preg. to adopting and then to finally getting preg. and to having a hard birth. I can't even imagine/ and depression set in .... to finally a dream come true. What is so amazing about this story is how they both kept their faith in God! This blew me away cause with our own troubles in life we sometimes just give up on God and this couple Never Ever did!! Read their story....Aly and Josh....they are on the computer. I enjoyed the book and when my own problems pop up I think wow and they just never gave up!!!

Songs I Love ~~~~~~~

May each day in the week be a good day May the Lord always watch over you And may all of your hopes turn to wishes And may all of your wishes come true May each day in the month be a good day May you make friends with each one that you meet And may all of your daydreams be mem'ries And may all of your mem'ries be sweet The weeks turn to months and the months into years And yes there be sadness and joy, there'll be laughter and tears And one thing I pray to heaven above is that each of your days be a day full of love May each day in the year be a good day. More to that song but its a good sung by Andy Williams Another song I liked... "I am your Child"....by BARRY MANILOW and "Thank you for the Music" by .....ABBA Read these words of this song by Glen Campbell....SO GOOD! "Yesterday, when I was young" The taste of life was sweet Like rain upon my tongue I teased at life as if It were a foolish game The way an evening breeze Would tease a candle flame The thousand dreams I dreamed The splendid things I planned I always built to last On weak and shifting sand I lived by night and shunned The naked light of day And only now I see How the years have ran away Yesterday, when I was young There were so many songs That waited to be sung So many wild pleasures That lay in store for me And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see I ran so fast that time And youth at last ran out I never stopped to think What life was all about And every conversation That I can recall Concerns itself with me And nothing else at all Yesterday, the moon was blue And every crazy day Brought something new to do And I used my magic age As if it were a wand And never saw the waste And emptiness beyond The game of love I played With arrogance and pride And every flame I lit So quickly, quickly died The friends I made all seemed Somehow to drift away And only I am left On stage to end the play Yesterday, when I was young There were so many songs That waited to be sung So many wild pleasures That lay in store for me And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see There are so many songs in me that won't be sung I feel the bitter taste Of tears upon my tongue And The time has come for me To pay for yesterday When I was young.

"Dewey"

So now I just finished reading another pet book and got so into it that I cryed like a baby when after 16 years" Dewey" passed away after living in the library and having all the people that he met fall in love with him.  In the beginning he was found just a tiny guy in the drop box of the Spencer Iowa Library....near froze to death from being left there on a very cold night , he was taken in to become the Spencer Library Cat!  Here is a photo of this sweet little guy!!!

This is a true story and one for anyone who has ever had a pet that they loved so dearly!

 I think you

will fall in love with Dewey as I did!

Love reading a good book

Finished the book "No Time Like The Future" which Leslie gave to me for Christmas. It was certainly a surprise cause I had been wanting to read the book forever. Its about Michael J. Fox and his fight and observations about his illness and having to face all that he goes through on a daily basis and his thoughts of approaching mortality. Thank you Leslie, I so loved his story and it certainly makes you think about our lives and how blessed we really are. Michael J. Fox has to think about every move he makes....if not then anything can happen and did if he failed to beware of his movements.  Good Read!

Charlie Bear

Just read the sweetest book ever about a couple who took and adopted this puppy who had issues and they called him "Charlie Bear." Here is a picture of this funny and sweet puppy that they wouldn't give up on. If you love dogs or cats you will absolutely love this story! I been into r eading lately if i see a book that grabs my attention and certainly this is one of them. I cryed way too much but I loved how this mama peep loved her first dog Rex and how he left a hole in her heart and how Charlie Bear actually bonded with her husband. Even still she has had a soft place in her heart for this rescue dog. Enjoy!

A very special gift

I cannot believe the wonderful gift that Joey and I received from Dawn and Justin. They gave us their 2011 KIA. Who does that?? We are forever thankful!! I wonder if Donna perhaps said Joe and Dottie's old Camry had had it. Guess will never know. Justin got himself a new electric car. And Dawn had an electri car already and even gave her mom her older KIA. I thought should we except but true our old Camry had seen its day. We can never ever thank these two enough EVER EVER!!div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

Make Your Bed/ best book ever

Oh how I loved this book by a navy seal. You will love it too. It teaches how we can overcome almost anything but the first thing you must do is to "Make Your Bed"  every morning!  It was expected and was the first task of the day for the navy seal guys! Doing it right was important cause it demonstrated discipline. At the end of the day it would be a reminder that I had done one thing well, something to be proud of, no matter how small the task or what the day brings... ........MAKE YOUR BED!!!
OH HOW I LOVED READING THIS BOOK!

Don't miss this one folks

Donna was trying to make supper for dad years ago when we were kids and she was making gravy. Lillie came into the house and ask what she was doing and Donna said making gravy for supper. Donna eyes were watering and then Lillie said where did you get the flour? Right there off the shelf. She showed the can and Lillie knew right then it was lye. OH My Gosh! she said Donna that is lye!!!!!! Where did you get this? Off the shelf  she said. You could have killed us all.....We laugh about it now but WOW that could have had a terrible ending if Lillie hadn't came into the kitchen at that time.  Have to say us kids loved Lillie, Roscoe's first wife, she looked after us and took us places.  She made mistakes  and that made us sad that they had to part ways.....but glad Donna shared this story with us.  Just another crazy story from who else but Donna.😮

Leslie wins a crazy sweater entry.

Will post her picture here. I helped a little bit and she won a hundred dollars. Yay! So happy for her.

Petri.....Aria's cat.

Fell in love with this sweet cat while at Leslie's. Will post a few pictures of him here.

Vacation in California

Been out in Ca.to visit girls and grandchildren .I went to help Leslie out till she could get a person to come and help with her girls. Have to say the cold weather really effected me. Coming from Florida the Sunshine state, well I am used to hot climate!!! My body doesn't do well if temp. drops below 70. It really chilled me to the bones!!!! For most part it was overcast and chilly. Thank goodness Leslie had a small heater and a heating pad which litterly saved me! ha! Feel sad for Leslie cause her X's don't make it easy for her and the trials have taken their toll on her but music seems to get her through the day. I stayed with her till day after Christmas and then headed over to visit Angie. On this whole trip my hair was static, lips chapped and I thought this was not a good season for me to have visited in Ca. Nice to see all the grandkids...Leslie's boys Soran and Ander get to visit twice a month and girls come four to three days a week and every other weekend. then back to Rob. It is what it is and for sure makes it tough at times. holidays for sure. While at Leslie's the girls have a kitten who they adoped named Petri and I have to say I spoiled him!!! Even with it being chilly it really was nice to see both families and Leslie is doing such a good job with her kids and only wish the guys could see and be kind and respect their children's mother. Angie and her crew were getting ready for a trip to Mexico so I was there three days. Her boys are growing up fast and Finn even drives, wow!! Will add pictures here soon.
