Ok, Plo is different from any cat I have ever seen.
So Plo has now become a outside /inside cat. At first I worried that if he got out he would run away or get hit by car or something would happen to him and we would never see him again. So first I took him out on leash and got him used to our home and yard. Then one day we set him free because he would go to the door and cry. Actually he wants his way most the time! Anyway it seems he has taken a liken to me and Jen said he is my cat and he loves me more. I tell her its mostly cause I am home most all day with him. He sleeps on my bed and now and then will go and sleep on hers.
Right after he started wanting out I started training him that if he heard the whistle and would come to me then I would give him a treat! That did it!! When it gets dark and he isn't around I hate to blow whistle and disturb the neighbors but usually he sticks around pretty close and on occasion I will sofly blow my whistle. ha! Well thats what I started doing when training him so now wherever he may roam all I have to do is blow my whistle and he comes running. My neighbors think its pretty cool!
I do love this cat ..we have a understanding so it seems.
Here is the King of the Neighborhood and Master of this house!😊

Plain good advice
Some good learning:
Courtesy is owed.
Respect is earned.
Love is given.
It doesn't matter the price of the dress, what matters is whats in the dress.
If the sun is shining its good to be outside.....nice to remember throughout your life.
Good manners are the backbone of life:
They will win you friends
Serve your children
Keep your workplace happy
Manners are the architecture of gratitude.
Thank you thank you... that was so thoughtful ....what a lovely thing to do ....I treasure you ....I'll bring soup ...God bless you!
These are so nice and if used will help you go far!

Fun days in my life!
Here were a few of the many shows that I loved as a young girl:
Watching Marlo Thomas in ---
Watching the Hit Parade with all the #1 songs. Can't believe they encouraged smoking back then.
The Dick Clark Show....American Bandstand
Dinah Shore in her classic ‘throwing-a-kiss’ pose which often came at the end of her ‘See-The-USA’ song on her 1950s TV show.
“See the USA in your Chevrolet,
America is asking you to call…
Drive your Chevrolet through the USA,
America’s the greatest land of all…”
– Dinah Shore, singing.

Think About It
Reputation is made in a moment, character is built in a lifetime
The train of failure usually runs on the track of laziness
Conscience is God's built in warning system
Be very happy when it hurts you....Be very worried when it doesn't.
No man ever really finds out what he believes in until he begins to instruct his children
And ye fathers provoke not your children to wrath,
but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord
Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap
You cannot win if you do not begin
Real friends are those who when you make a fool of yourself
don't feel you have done a permanent job
The cure of crime is not in the electric chair but begins in the high chair
Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it
If thou faint in the day of adversity thy strength is small
You can easily determine the caliber of a person by
the amount of opposition it takes to discourage him
It is good to remember that the tea kettle , although up to its neck in hot water, continues to sing."

About Work
The subject of work has come up alot lately .....Why work? ....and thought this appropriate.
Most of us have to work ....
Most do not like to work.....
But most would be vastly more miserable without work....
Without work , and struggles, danger, adventure, hope, fear and triumph.... life would seem to be empty!! and have you ever thought it just might be a tremendous BORE!
Maybe we need more sleep!

Rhett Lawton
Our Bishop Bro. Rhett Lawton is a airplane pilot. He travels alot of places with his job. I love to hear him give talks and just recently he gave a great one! He said while flying the plane the weather was not sooo good around him and in fact it got so very very dark around him that he decided to fly up much higher and get above the darkness of the clouds. He said as he did , there it was....above the clouds " A burst of sunlight" .... Its Always There! he said ...Always! Above the clouds with all the darkness below him it was there and he said whatever we go through here on earth.....that light will be there right above us always! Heavenly Father is always there!! Sometimes we just have to have a little patience. And like the SUN he is always there.... above the darkness.. I was so touched by his talk and have to say I got a little emotional. It was so sincere and real!

Dinner Time
We had a stationwagon when kids were young and it was called the grocery getter, named by our daughter Angie cause it was always used for going to the grocery store to be filled up with more food for seven kids.
A funny thing Angie would say when it was time for the kids to come in for supper would be...and she would shout this out from the front porch "All you Shappard's come to dinner" and then shout out again saying "if not a Shappard don't come."😊 So funny! The kids were usually out playing and would come in just before it got dark.
Will add our grocery getter here if I can just find that picture.

The clock is ticking!
Its so true that time stops for no one! Doesn't matter if i would like it to slow down....it just keeps coming and going even faster at this age. When young i never gave time a second thought and lived as if it went on forever, I did.... I thought like that until I probably reached about age 50..... yup ....then realized ''Yikes'' my life is half over and now at 76 i think wow i really will be out of here one day.😢 when i go to church on Sunday the next thing I know its Sunday again and i think how can that be already......thats how fast it goes for me.😨 I do try to keep busy and do spend alot of time out of the house. Don't take naps .....just wanta get out and do something. Dad is totally different .....he loves staying home , loves his naps and does a couple yards for our neighbors and then watches tv. or sleeps. 😉 I like watching tv in the evenings but daytime nope... I have to get out and live!
We never can stop time no matter what so
I will try my best to enjoy what time I have left! Gosh, how do I stop these clock hands from moving. hmmm.
We always think we have more time than we do ....but we don't!

Randy had a stroke!
Well where to begin.....seems one evening Randy was fine and next moment Kristen said something is wrong with dad and said call 911. And so it was he had had a stroke at the age of 49 to be 50 in two months. Right after air lifted in helicopter to Orlando he was immediately given attention. It was fast acting on doctors part and was very emotional for all of us. Then later he begin to be told what had happened and if all who know Randy then you know he is a fighter...
After it all was explained to him he got emotional and then listened and begin to move forward and do all they had ask him to do. Sooo much love and prayers went up to our Heavenly Father to please let him make it through this and everyone surrounded him with love and support! Dad rushed to hospital to give him a blessing before he was air lifted to Orlando. Todd also rushed to his side and know it was pretty emotional to watch his brother struggle to say just simple words as he did. It would be a scary thing to wake up one morning and to have to know you must relearn some things that before you took for granted!
Emotions were high and so glad Jen was here. Jen stuck right by his side and even taking off work to be near Randy and she was amazing with her support and working with Randy daily during this whole time!!! Helping him everyday learn to pronoun words and kept telling him how great he was doing and just how awesome he was!
We all visited him at the hospital and of course worked hard to keep him in good spirits. He had a bad headache alot at first and his speech was a problem plus he was crying alot but as each day came and went he made remarkable recovery. We all were quite concerned at first and could not believe this could be happening but it did and after a couple days Randy started the process of learning and put his all into it and never gave up, he is a fighter and went to work doing all the doctors ask him to do plus even went beyond what was required. Today he is near back to himself , working on improving in certain areas of course. Soon he will be back to normal, has plenty time, his work has given him plenty time off and more than he will need cause he is doing so well!
Today he is eating only healthy foods, dropping weight and he quit smoking six months ago and not even drinking soda. He is totally forcused on losing weight and being healthy! A few pictures of him recouping. We are so proud of Randy and happy to know he is healing and showing signs of remarkable recovery!!
Randy recouping and ready to eat.

In Hospital and recovering.

funny stories of Savannah by the guy that drove our Trolley
Our trolley guy was quite funny and told us the following stories"
Buccaneers or pirates wore earrings and if had one earring that ment they had been around world one time. Two and its two times, three and its three times. Said he didn't know if that was true or not and laughted.
If a Buccaneer got drunk and passed out at the pug he was taken and put on a ship and when he woke he might be far from home and from his wife and children and may not even see his family again for years. Guess some of those guys were ok with that.ha!
Why so much moss in the tree......well we were told the buccaneers used Spanish Moss for stuffing their pillows but failed to realize that these little red bugs were inside the moss and thats where the saying got started " Don't let the bed bugs bite." ha!
Another saying when ask where Savannah got its name he said this guy was out on the river with his daughter and she fell into the water and everyone started saying "Save Anna Save Anna."....so it was called Savannah! He laughted and said thats not true he made it up! ha!
Found that the city of Savannah is made up of squares for the most part and in all there are 22 squares in the city. We saw 17 of them. Nice trip!

Tales of My Siblings
My brother Joe........ has a favorite saying and wanted to get it down before I forget it...
when all of us siblings get together Joe never fails using this statement sometime during the conversations .....
"Everyone should do what they want to do."
Roscoe.......Police called Roscoe's son and said Steve you got to tell your dad to start stopping at the Stop Signs.....seems that Roscoe feels if nothing is coming no need to stop. ha!😉 That a small town for you when your well known.ha!
Bump.....he said Nellie McCool who ran the neighborhood grocery store saw him pick up a pack of cizs on the ground and right when he started to put one in his mouth Nellie looked out her window and saw him and yelled " Bumper "and he dropped the ciz's and kept walking. Bump said back then neighbors watched out for each other and he never picked up another ciz. it was good that people cared back then. Good job Bump! 😊
Donna....picked up this can off of shelf and thinking it was flour was in the process of making gravy and stirring it in the skillet when her eyes started watering and bothering her and Lillie our sister in law came in and said :
"what you doing?" and Donna said making gravy for dad. She said show me what your using .....she reached up got the can and Lillie said Donna this is" Lye"....you could have poisoned the whole family! To hear it today and Donna tell it its funny but really could have had a bad ending. YIKES!
Bump....said he was at ma's who is our gramma and looked in the refri and wanted ice cream....seeing this white stuff thought it was ice cream and turned out it was cottage cheese....disappointed he said so he never has liked cottage cheese since.
Lillie Roscoe's first wife was always looking out for me and my brother Bump. Took us to the drive in theater many times. She taught me to drive a (YR) Studebaker and even when i went off the road into a ditch she didn't yell at me but we got out and kept going! Thanks Lillie! She was always there for us kids. She cared about us so this is my memories of her!
Donna...... (scary story)..... Donna's children were young , home asleep with their dad there. She took a job driving from bank to bank on a midnight shift dropping off stuff, not knowing what was in the bag but felt it was important papers. Well one evening she noticed some guy was following behind her on the road. She turned he turned. Went up on highway and he did also. This was scary, as he continued to follow her she kind of started to panic .....he kept her in his sight. As she would
pull off at certain places thinking he would go ahead , he never did but would pull off also and wait and continued to follow her. Getting scared and thinking maybe if speeded a policeman would stop her and help but none were in sight. After awhile she decided to get up on a double lane highway and he came up onto the ramp also and got beside her and she took a good look at his face. By this time she was totally in tears being so scared. She finally decided the only way to lose him was to cross over a four lane highway in front of a car so fast at the last min. and he could not do same without wrecking. She saw a ramp coming up , this was her only hope! he would not be able to make it across in time and it had to be at the last min. in order to lose him. So waiting for the right moment she quickly went across in front of another car at the last second to get off the ramp. She said the man was so angry he layed on his horn! She cryed a sigh of relief ..next day she saw picture of this man on tv and he was wanted as a rapist of young women. WOW!!!!
Donna....this is a spiritual story..... Again Donna was out on a lonely road , likely again on the Bank route and her car stopped.... having trouble getting it to start this old man stopped and ask what he could do to help.....he pulled up the hood and looked inside and said get inside and start it up. Donna did and it immediately started. She got out to thank him and he was gone! She never heard his car start up or see him leave. Strange Yes! But I and she believe there are Angel's among us!
Bump... said the day came when it was time for him to leave on a bus cause he had just up and joined the Air Force. He said no one came to see him off but Don Clark. Mom and Dad were not there . He said it wasn't much a big deal cause we weren't a close net family but he never forgot it. Don gave him some money for" just in case!" Such good people! I am not sure why my parents didn't show up but one day perhaps they will tell him and it will all be good. I know he was disappointed and felt no one cared!
Hope to add more good stories here later. I hope!

This was quite a while back we went to Indiana
First stop - Savannah, GA...ate lunch at Paula Deen's restaurant and took a trolley ride later around the city. So fun! Got on the road afterwards and stayed at a motel that night.
Second Day - arrived in Vincennes, In. and decided to look over Bunker Hill where our gramma once lived but that place was gone, same with Aunt Mini and Aunt Mami's home and then on to our old neighborhood to see where our home once stood. 😞 Everything had changed so much! Then we went to Walmart where we stopped and said hi to Tammy who is Steve Todd's wife. We thought about staying at their cabin but never got around to it.
Next stop was Joe and Marianne's home where we spent the day. We stayed over night. Marianne is not well so we didn't want to overstay our visit but sure did enjoy their company as always. Sometimes the tables change and now it's Joe's turn to care for his sweet wife Marianne. I have always admired their marriage and its lasted for will say 65 yrs.?
Next morning we decided to visit an old friend that my older sisters knew when growing up in the PearOchard.....her name was "Sharon Shaffer." I never hung out with any of my sisters as a youth. I do remember her a little and like the rest of us, she is getting older and not so healthy. She had a picture to share with Donna, it was really cool seeing that! By the end of the day we were exhausted and headed back to Joe and Marianne's for a good nights sleep.
We packed up next morning and headed to Washington a small city outside of Vin. to visit Olive, Donna's sister in law. She is also up there in age, like late 80's. Her nephew lives with her and he was such a nice kid. Wish had got to meet him earlier "he had just met a girl" and he is around Jen's age. Really a nice kid!
Afterwards we headed to visit Roscoe and as always he's still working and totally amazes me. Then on to Sarah's to visit and spend night. Sarah took us out to a pizza place that evening in her small little town called Sullivan. I wondered if I would ever be able to live in such a small little place but it did have a Walmart. haha!
Last stop was a visit to Sarah's office next morning where she works for four hours a day. She gives out titles for death documents and etc..We visited with Kim at the bank where she works. And then after that we finally headed out but took our time coming back home with a different route to see some sights! We really wanted to see some secenary but really just ended up seeing mountains and pretty greenary. Going through Virginia, we spent another night at a motel and then on home. It was ALOT of driving for Bump and he drove the whole thing!!! I have to say here that he is amazing!!! He drove with such unbelievable ease and never once complained about traffic or Bump truly is "REALLY" the best driver I have ever rode with..EVER..beating all!
anything. No road rage.ha!

Vacation in San Diego(2017)
Much needed vacation to Angie's this pass week even if the month of June in San Diego is called June Gloom....it was overcast and a little on the chilly side for me.
Flight there and back went smooth and I always enjoy talking with the people I meet while on the plane. The things enjoyed while there were.......
"Piano Recital"
" Old Town"
A restaurant brunch at "Tidal "
Trip and lunch at "Ikea"
A movie we watched called " A Man called Ove."
"Family Time "
A evening of fun playing "Guesstures"
Working a new puzzle with boys which was of the city of "San Diego"
Just enjoyed this whole trip relaxing with the family.
Angie and C. have a lovely home and C. has built a treehouse for boys plus a zip line and recently a slide for the pool which looks pretty scary. Will add more pictures to this blog in a couple days so check it out!

YOU ARE MY CHILD
I do not love you because you are good but because you are my child!
There are times when you will upset me and cause me unwanted anger,
but no matter what, "I will always love you."
There are cruel words you might say that will cause me hurt and bring me sadness,
but no matter what "I will always love you."
There are going to be unwise decisions that you will make that will disappoint me,
but no matter what, "I will always love you."
There are actions you might act upon that will cause me to worry about you,
but no matter what, "I will always love you."
There will be moments where you will make me cry and bring me to tears,
but no matter what, "I will always love you."
There will be unforgivable mistakes that you bring upon me,
but no matter what. "I will always love you."
There will be lies told to me in which you test my trust in you,
but no matter what, "I will always love you."
In life there are struggles, arguments and challenges we will have to endure, but no matter what happens, I want you to know that, "I will always love you," now and forever!

but no matter what. "I will always love you."
There will be lies told to me in which you test my trust in you,
but no matter what, "I will always love you."
In life there are struggles, arguments and challenges we will have to endure, but no matter what happens, I want you to know that, "I will always love you," now and forever!

No Matter What
There are times when you will upset me and cause me unwanted
anger,
but no matter what, "I will always love you."
There will be mistakes that you bring upon me,
but no matter what. "I will always love you."
There will be lies told to me in which you test my trust in you,
but no matter what, "I will always love you."
In life there are struggles, arguments and challenges we will have to endure, but no matter what happens, I want you to know that, "I will always love you," now and forever!

Remembering these actresses from my youth.
My favorite actresses as I was growing up. Debbie Reynolds and Doris Day. People change, think Debbie did more than Doris but I think thats cause sometimes things happen in life and you have no choice but to deal with it. Even I myself have changed some, its really the only way to survive when life gets really hard!!

Red Bandanna
This is a short story of the 9/11 tragedy! It really touched my heart because we love our little boys sooo much and want them to grow up safe and to help others!
Crowther once a volunteer fire fighter at one time didn't hestitate to help injured and disoriented people to safety, risking his own life in the process. Though they couldn't see much through the haze, he saved many and they said a tall figure wearing a red bandana to shield his lungs and mouth helped us.
He had come down to the 78th-floor sky lobby, an alcove in the building with express elevators meant to speed up trips to the ground floor. He directed survivors to the stairway and encouraged them to help others while he carried an injured woman on his back.
One of the women he helped credits him with saving her life.
"If he hadn't come back, I wouldn't have made it," "People can live 100 years and not have the compassion, to do what he did." Though Crowther saved at least a dozen lives that day, his identity remained unknown for some time, even to those he helped. His family — his mother Alison, his father Jefferson and his sisters Paige and Honor — did not know exactly what happened in the hour before he died.
Times interviewed the survivors who made it down from the highest floors alive. In it, eyewitnesses described the figure with a red bandana:
Alison Crowther, knowing he always carried a red bandana in his pocket, sent photographs of her son who it was confirmed that Welles was indeed the man who had saved them.
"Everything we shared — all the details — led right to Welles, so it was really beautiful,"
The family later learned that Welles' body had been recovered with other firefighters with the FDNY. They had been on their way back up the stairs of the South Tower with the "Jaws of Life," likely to help other survivors to safety.
Gone, but never forgotten. Crowther's selfless act of heroism became a symbol of perseverance, of courage and of hope in the aftermath of 9/11.
"A young man, in his 20s, strong, emerged from the smoke and, over his nose and his mouth, he wore a red handkerchief, "He led those survivors down the stairs to safety and yes he carried a woman on his shoulders down 17 flights, and then he went back.
For Sure A Hero!

A mysterious man appeared at one point, his mouth and nose covered with a red handkerchief. He was looking for a fire extinguisher. As Judy Wein recalls, he pointed to the stairs and made an announcement that saved lives: Anyone who can walk, get up and walk now. Anyone who can perhaps help others, find someone who needs help and then head down.
A few minutes behind this group was Ling Young, who also survived the impact in the sky lobby. She, too, said she had been steered by the man in the red bandanna, hearing him call out: "This way to the stairs."

Life Motto's
Treat all people with
kindness and try not to be so angry.
I shall pass through this world but Once. Therefore any good that I can do , any kindness that I can offer to any human being
, let me do it now, for I shall not pass this way again.
Never look down on someone unless you are helping them UP!
Never do anything to anyone that you would not like them to do to you.
You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.
Do good and I will follow you.
Do the right thing for the right reason.
If you can’t do any good then don’t do any harm.

My retirement gift from Angie
Donna and I both got some wear from this pretty pink bike that Angie got me a few years back as a retirement gift and I was really excited and really enjoyed it for many years! I rode it for along time and then Donna took and rode it. Then she finally got herself a new bike. Anyway after a few more years of enjoyment and getting older we both decided it was time for us to get one that was a better fit because it was a little hard for both of us getting off and on the pink bike. Certainly enjoyed it for a few years then I eventually sold it.
Two old ladies here and its a wonder we didn't brake our necks but thank
you Angie for the fun rides and enjoyment we had on this pink beauty!
